On average, two construction workers take their own lives every working day . In a CIOB study, 97% of construction workers reported feeling stressed, 87% experienced anxiety, and 70% experienced depression within the past year.

With such stark statistics facing us all, it's little wonder that mental health and wellbeing feature in so many discussions at the moment.

Join us with two brilliant speakers who will examine the challenges facing the construction industry and present some solutions available.

Hosted by Stuart Wilks, this 'fireside chat' style session will discuss the key issues and how to tackle them. Our panellists are:

Ellesse Parris

Ellesse is partnerships manager and our regional ambassador for the Lighthouse Charity. They aim to ensure that the construction community can easily access the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support they need and to develop healthy and sustainable futures for this generation and the next. The charity support thousands of construction workers and their families every single year. Their support is based on 3 pillars, Emotional, Physical and Financial Wellbeing.

Elvin Box

Hailing originally from East London, but now based in Billericay, Elvin is a chartered builder with a passion for strategy. Starting life as a joiner, Elvin went on to complete an MBA with the Open University Business School in 2003.

A prostate cancer survivor, with personal experience of the challenges that beset people’s wellbeing, Elvin has received praise and recognition for his work in healthy manhood & wellbeing. This has led to being much in demand as a speaker, specifically on awareness of testicular and prostate cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. In recognition of raising awareness of both testicular and prostate cancer, plus mental health awareness & suicide prevention, during February 2023 Elvin was honoured to become an inaugural member of Movember’s, ‘Hall of Fame’.
