Simon Prior, Conisbee Chair | Simon is our current Chair. He joined Conisbee in 2008 and is now an Associate heading up their Colchester office. Simon’s project work spans across all industry sectors although he specialises in the appraisal, repair, refurbishment and reuse of existing buildings and structures of all types and ages. With over 15 years' experience working on conservation engineering projects, Simon has a broad knowledge of many materials and techniques. He has acted as lead engineer on many conservation structural engineering projects to Grade I and Grade II-listed buildings and several Scheduled Ancient Monuments. Simon also has significant knowledge and experience in the assessment and repair of reinforced concrete and modern-movement structures including large panel systems and non-traditional housing. Outside of work Simon loves all things automotive and enjoys spending his spare time in the garage working on his motorbike and sports car. |
Max Chapman, Ingleton Wood Vice Chair | Max is a Chartered Architect and Director at Ingleton Wood, he joined Ingleton Wood in 2007 as an architectural trainee and has developed his career alongside part time study and apprenticeships to achieve his professional qualifications. Max has a broad range of experience across many sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare, blue-light, heritage, conservation, and education, working across all RIBA stages, with good experience of traditional and design and build procurement. Max also has a wealth of experience supporting schools with bids for funding and master planning. Max joined as a committee member in Spring 2023, when not in the office or helping with the club, Max likes drinking beer and spending time with family and friends. Max also likes to pretend he can play golf and spends a lot of time looking for his golf ball at his local club in Frinton. |
Chrissie Parkes Treasurer | Chrissie is a solicitor in Holmes & Hills' Legal 500 recommended Construction Division, who provides advice on construction contracts and construction contract disputes. Before qualifying, Chrissie spent two years working as a trainee solicitor alongside the firm's construction solicitors and is therefore well versed in Construction Law. Chrissie works with contractors, sub-contractors, contract and project managers, quantity surveyors, and architects to ensure clients’ commercial interests are protected when entering, exiting, or disputing construction contracts. |
Stuart Wilks, Limeslade Founding Member | Stuart helped set up the club. Following a lunch meeting with Sam and an initial chat with Warren, and the success of the Cambridge-Oxford club, the idea for an Essex club was born. The group now has around 250 active members and continues to thrive. When not helping with the club, Stuart is a Director at Limeslade who help firms in the built environment with marketing, events and business development. And when he's not doing that, you'll find him either cycling or playing the organ in churches across Essex and London! |
Sam Bawden, Holmes & Hills Founding Member |
Sam is a Partner at Holmes & Hills Solicitors where he leads the firm's Dispute Resolution Department. As well as being a specialist Construction Law solicitor, Sam is also an expert speaker who, is on a personal mission to change the construction industry by educating those within it on the fundamentals of construction law.

Esmee Vince, Morgan Sindall | Esmee is an experienced business development co ordinator for Morgan Sindall. She has a demonstrated history of working in the construction industry, and was one of our earliest members. Esme joined the committee in 2025. |
Paul Coleman, Daniel Connal | Paul joined the committee in 2025, he's an experienced senior QS with a demonstrated history of working in the construction industry. His skills lie in quantity surveying, contract administration, fit-out, tender preparation, cost management, and contracts. Paul gained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) focused in quantity surveying from Anglia Ruskin University |
