Sam Bawden, Holmes & Hills - Chair |
Sam is our current chair, and a Partner at Holmes & Hills Solicitors where he leads the firm's Dispute Resolution Department. As well as being a specialist Construction Law solicitor, Sam is also an expert speaker who, is on a personal mission to change the construction industry by educating those within it on the fundamentals of construction law.

Nicola Gemmel, Aecom - Treasurer | Nicola is an Associate Director at Aecom. With vast experience working in the construction consulting industry, she started off at Rider Levett Bucknall and has also worked at Pick Everard and Richard Utting Associates LLP. Nicola is also Treasurer for CEEC and does a wonderful job keeping our finances in shape. |
Stuart Wilks, Limeslade - Founding Member | Stuart helped set up the club. Following a lunch meeting with Sam and an initial chat with Warren, and the success of the Cambridge-Oxford club, the idea for an Essex club was born. The group now has around 250 active members and continues to thrive. When not helping with the club, Stuart is a Director at Limeslade who help firms in the built environment with marketing, events and business development. And when he's not doing that, you'll find him either cycling or playing the organ in churches across Essex and London! |
Warren Salmons, Morgan Sindall - Founding Member | Founding member of the group, Warren is an experienced Commercial Consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the public and private sector with specialist knowledge of the construction industry. He is an accomplished Project Manager skilled in Feasibility Studies, Business Transformation, Construction, Management, and Account Management. |
Simon Prior, Conisbee | Simon joined Conisbee in 2008 and is now an Associate heading up their Colchester office. Simon’s project work spans across all industry sectors although he specialises in the appraisal, repair, refurbishment and reuse of existing buildings and structures of all types and ages. With over 15 years' experience working on conservation engineering projects, Simon has a broad knowledge of many materials and techniques. He has acted as lead engineer on many conservation structural engineering projects to Grade I and Grade II-listed buildings and several Scheduled Ancient Monuments. Simon also has significant knowledge and experience in the assessment and repair of reinforced concrete and modern-movement structures including large panel systems and non-traditional housing. Outside of work Simon loves all things automotive and enjoys spending his spare time in the garage working on his motorbike and sports car. |
Max Chapman, Ingleton Wood | Max is a Director at Ingleton Wood, he joined in 2007 as an architectural trainee and was promoted to Senior Associate in 2021. Max has a broad range of experience across many of our sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare, blue-light and education. He also has a wealth of experience supporting schools with bids for funding and master planning. |
Kieron Peaty, Studio 40 | Kieron is a Chartered Architect and the director of Studio 40. He has an amazing attention to detail and has always been fascinated by how buildings go together, understanding the deeper meaning behind good design. He believes the details are the design, and places importance on getting those right on every project. Kieron loves being involved at every stage, and seeing projects through to the very end. |
Emma Honeysett, SOCOTEC | Emma has worked in marketing and business development within the property industry for 16 years, She has developed the relationships and skills to make her a key member of the SOCOTEC Advisory team. Emma is also heavily involved in the ICLA (International Construction Law Association) and continue to develop the marketing strategy to grow and market this group. |
