SRL Technical Services Ltd are delighted to open the doors of their acoustic test laboratories to Constructing Excellence Essex.
SRL has long been at the forefront of acoustics. Clients from around the world send products for testing in their comprehensive laboratory. There has been a laboratory on site since the early 1970s. In 2021 SRL opened its new state-of-the-art suite of testing facilities to complement the existing laboratory.
During the tour you will visit the reverberation chambers, airborne and impact sound insulation test suites, rain noise test chamber and attenuator test rig. Discover how construction data is collected and used in the design and development of sustainable and innovative buildings.
It is a great opportunity to see how laboratory tests are conducted and ask plenty of questions to the SRL Engineers.
Introduction and tour by Dave Clarke, Technical Director at SRL Technical Services Limited.
Dave is SRL’s Technical Director, in charge of the day-to-day companywide technical operations in consultancy, monitoring and testing. Dave has over 30 years of experience (all at SRL!) and is responsible for maintaining company technical standards, expanding SRL’s technical capabilities into new areas, and training and recruiting technical staff. Dave will also lead Q&A after the tour to answer all your questions about our laboratory.

Getting to SRL
Many of the SRL team make use of the company’s EV scheme. Our laboratory benefits acoustically from being in the beautiful rural Suffolk countryside. However, this does mean we are not easily accessible by public transport.
TRAIN:
If you would like to travel to us by Train, SRL staff will put on an EV shuttle service from Sudbury station to our laboratory. We’ll be using company EVs to do this and can accommodate (we think) up to 12 people, for pick up and drop off from the train that arrives in Sudury at 1621. If more people require drop-off and collection we can use non EVs or do a second shuttle trip. If you require a lift, please tick the box when booking.
PARKING:
On site we have three EV charging points which will be free for all attendees to use on a first come first served basis. There is plenty of on-site parking for those who choose to drive, although we encourage car sharing wherever possible.
