Join Constructing Excellence Essex for a look at the latest on the Building Safety Act with Francis Hunter of Ingleton Wood, Ian Seeley of Ellisons, and experts from Conisbee.

Note: If you had a reservation for the original event in Nov 2023, this has been carried over and there is no need to re-book your place.

We will be looking at what the current road map of the building safety act looks like as well as dispelling the myths of the guidance released to date; including delving into the High Rise Building registration deadline which ended on the 1st October 2023, Changing of building regulations and inspectors and what this means legally in terms of competence, appointments and the terminology that we are seeing in the guidance to date.

What does this all really mean to us from a day-to-day business as usual perspective?

Francis Hunter is a Senior Associate at Ingleton Wood and heads up our CDM and H&S disciplines within the practice. From all things compliance through to acting as Principal designer across the UK, Francis has been pivotal in developing the Practice’s response and action plan for compliance with the changes outlined in the Building Safety Act; from working on recladding and making safe schemes on HRBs through to advising Clients and delivering CPDs on the new obligations.

Molly Frankham is an Associate Solicitor in Ellisons’ Property Litigation Department. With regards to building safety issues arising from the Grenfell Fire tragedy, Molly advises leaseholders, freeholders and management companies on the recoverability of cladding and non-cladding remediation costs. Molly also assist clients with regards to the wider issues arising from building safety – including defective premises claims and claims under s.27 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 (determination as to the reasonableness of service charges).

Ian Seeley is a Construction & Regulatory Law Partner at Ellisons Solicitors, which has offices throughout Essex and Suffolk.  As part of the multi-disciplinary Building Safety Team at Ellisons, Ian’s involvement in the building safety crisis has included representing assorted contractual parties in numerous combustible cladding-related claims; advising cladding contractors on insurance-related issues; and assisting the residents of a Basildon-based development in the successful appeal against an Enforcement Notice which required the immediate imposition of a 24/7 waking watch.
